Travelers Trophy Staying Local

In a loaded field at the Travelers Championship, the hometown hero got the job done with a wire-to-wire victory and an astounding score of 24 under par. With the world’s best in New England for the elevated PGA Tour event, Keegan Bradley came out firing with a 62 on Thursday in front of friends and family in Cromwell, CT. With the likes of Rory Mcilroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Patrick Cantlay breathing down his neck, Keegs followed that up with two more rounds in the low 60’s and hung on for dear life Sunday afternoon.

In the first tournament since he missed the cut at the US Open, oddsmakers overlooked Bradley who had not been in top form and spent last weekend playing mini golf with his kids in Vermont. He entered the week at +7500 with more than 25 players having shorter odds to earn a W and the $3.6 Million prize that came with it. But with his wife and young kids following him around the course, Bradley was the best player out there this weekend, and did not disappoint the army of New Englanders that had his back. A $100 future would have netted Bradley backers a juicy $7,500 pay-day.

With 31 of the top 40 players in the world teed it up this weekend, including the games top 8, Bradley used a red-hot putter to run away from the field. Perhaps it was the mini-golf with his kids last week, or the local support from his fellow New Englanders, but either way, bettors will be sure not to overlook Keegan too much moving forward this season.
